St Columba’s Digital Citizenship

Digital Citizenship in ICT and e-Learning of St Columba’s Catholic School are based on our Cornerstone Values. The purpose is to develop critical thinking skills of students within a technological age. Digital Citizenship is a concept which helps teachers and parents understand what students/children/technology users should know to use technology appropriately. Digital Citizenship is more than just a teaching tool; it is a way to prepare students for a society full of technology.

The school’s computer network, internet access facilities, computers and other school ICT equipment/devices bring great benefits to the teaching and learning programmes at St Columba’s Catholic School, and to the effective operation of the school.

The overall goal of the school for e-Learning is to encourage good digital citizenship and maintain an ICT safety culture which is in keeping with the values of the school, and legislative and professional obligations.

The school’s computer network, ICT access facilities, computers and other school ICT equipment/devices are for educational purposes appropriate to the school environment. This applies whether the ICT equipment is owned or leased either partially or wholly by the school, and used on or off the school site.
