Our school touch and basketball programs are also in full swing. I’d like to extend my gratitude to all the parents who are generously volunteering their time, as well as our fantastic Year 7 and 8 students who have taken on the role of refereeing and assisting with touch. Your support makes a real difference.

Looking ahead, we invite parents and whānau to join us next week for athletics. This is a great opportunity to experience these events with your children. Key dates for each team’s Athletics Day are in this newsletter, so be sure to mark your calendars.

Finally, I’d like to remind all parents and caregivers to review the safety expectations for using the school drop-off zone and the church carpark. Safe roading messages from both myself and the Hamilton City Council are also included in this newsletter to ensure safe journeys to and from school along Rifle Range Road.

Please be aware of your child’s use of computers, phones and YouTube channels in the home environment. What children are viewing is having an impact on school behaviours and inappropriate conversation during school time. Parents of older children, your support is needed, please be mindful of what your children are viewing and the discussions they are having. Thank you,

Safe parking at St Columba’s Catholic School. If you are new to our school or just feel a reminder would help here is the school plan

 

 

It’s heading into warmer weeks and more chances to get on our bikes and scooters and head off to school. Can we please make sure as parents and as a community mindful of safety to adhere to the following:

School starts each day at 8:45am and ends at 2:45pm.

Teachers are in meetings, marking and preparing work and attending professional development after school and cannot supervise children after hours.  We request that appropriate arrangements be made for the care of your children after school so that we can be sure that every child is safe. If your child is still on site at 3.15pm, they will be directed to our after-school care facility in the hall and you will be charged the casual rate for their attendance.

Not every child gets a toy on Christmas Day but thanks to the efforts of Vinnies Hamilton and The Hits, the amazing sponsors, hundreds of Waikato children will receive toys this Christmas.

The bus will call past and do a pickup here at school so please bring in any previously loved or unwanted toys to donate and enrich the lives of other less fortunate children!
